Twinning Circle Meetings

The meetings provide an excellent forum for the spreading of information about the Twinning scene in Devon, for the exchange of experiences and ideas, and for mutual encouragement. An effort is also made to engage a speaker.

Date and time

Meetings are held on a Saturday in January, April, July and October.

They are normally held on the third Saturday of the month, but this can be flexible.  Please feel free to pick a different Saturday if necessary to suit yourselves and your chosen venue.

The committee meeting starts at 11 am, lunch is at 12.30 and we try to start the meeting about 2 pm.

Annual General meeting

The Annual General Meeting shall take place no earlier than July in any year.

Information for those hosting DTC meetings.

These meetings are hosted by local Associations who are prepared to volunteer, and we attempt to spread them around the county so that no members are always having to travel long distances. Devon is a big county!

Reimbursement by the D.T.C. for the host Association is at the rate of £200 and often a raffle is held to help boost local funds.

Hosting involves providing a venue for the committee meeting in the morning, lunch, and the general meeting in the afternoon.  This may be at a hotel /inn which provides the catering or in a village hall or similar venue with catering by the host association.

Offers to host any of these meetings are always appreciated.

Accommodation required.

As the committee meeting starts at 11 am we really need a room from about 10.30.  This could be a smaller room than that used for the lunch and/or general meeting but depends on what is available. It would be good if tea/coffee could be available in the morning.

The meeting

Someone from the host association normally welcomes everyone to the meeting before handing over to the DTC Chairman.

An after-lunch speaker can be arranged, if you wish, but this is not obligatory.  This should preferably be on a twinning related topic.

Similarly, a raffle is not obligatory but many host associations like to do it to raise a bit more money.

Information required before the beginning of the previous month

Please advise the DTC Secretary.

The venue for the meeting, directions to get there and information about parking.  A post code is useful for people who use satnav.

The menu and cost of the meal.  Name and address for bookings and a telephone number please.  Payment options (Cheque or Bank transfer details).  The date by which bookings should be made - allow plenty of time when setting the date, a lot of people find it hard to meet deadlines.

Have you arranged a speaker?  If so, the subject of their talk.

Thank you for your interest and involvement.
